DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The government employees in Dera Ismail Khan could not get their salaries on June 1 due to a technical glitch in the system of District Accounts Office to ensure timely transfer of data to banks.

The employees said that their salaries could not be transferred to their accounts on June 1, which caused them mental distress.

When contacted, officials of private banks said that salaries of some government employees had been transferred to their accounts while most of others could not get the same on Wednesday.

The employees alleged that due to negligence of the District Accounts Office they would now receive their salary for May on June 2.

According to the bank officials, the accounts office had sent cheques and summaries of salaries of the government employees late on May 31 due to which salaries could not be transferred to their accounts on time.

District Comptroller Mohammad Farooq told this correspondent that the salaries and pensions of employees were sent to them on May 27 along with their payrolls and cheques, but due to a glitch in the system the data had been washed, which led to the delay in payments.

He said that the employees of the accounts office worked day and night and on May 30 they sent the payrolls and summaries back to the banks. He said that all the employees and pensioners would now get their salaries and pensions on Thursday (today).

He said the delay in salary transfer was not due to any negligence, but a technical glitch in the system.
