LAHORE: A young man died when string of a stray kite slit his throat open in a crowded market in Misri Shah police limits here on Monday.

Identified as Kashif (18), the young man had come to the market to purchase some edibles, when at Nakhuda Chowk, the string of a stray kite entangled around his neck, leaving him critically injured, a police official said.

He said on being informed of the incident by some locals, a police team reached the spot where the youth was lying in a pool of blood with critical injuries on his neck inflicted by the sharp string. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Lahore police high-ups suspended the Misri Shah station house officer (SHO) from service after the chief minister and the inspector general of police took notice of the incident and sought a report in this regard.
