LAHORE: Actor Sana Butt, who claims to have remarkable fan following on TikTok, plans to produce short films for children.

Speaking about her plans for future, she said she would come up with short educative films for children. A student of Usman Pirzada, she said she wanted to utilise her 12-year experience of working with the Rafi Peer Theater Workshop.

Ms Butt, who performed at the National School of Drama in India with iconic Naseeruddin Shah and of late in Indian Punjabi movie Chal Mera Put, said nothing was being done for children in Pakistan. She also underscored the need for carrying out joint ventures of Punjabi movies between Indian and Pakistani Punjabs. These movies should also be screened in the Indian Punjab, said the TikToker who has over two million followers.

As a child actor, she used to work on television in Phool or Kalian programme. “I have teamed up with some young social media fellows to produce short films primarily for children and also message-oriented ones for the grownups too,” she added.

Sana Butt did commercial theatre for two decades, film and then television but to her, social media was now the strongest medium where one could convey one’s message to millions out there. “We have nothing but just Ainak Wala Jinn for children, the only show in Lahore and there is much to be done through theatre and social media,” she said.

“My two short films are already under production which I would launch not only on social media but also would send to film festivals,” she said.
