KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday directed police to enhance patrolling in the city to curb the menace of street crime.
Official sources said he held a meeting to review the overall law and order situation in the province, particularly in Karachi, after his return from Davos.
Sindh Inspector General of Police Kamran Fazal, CM’s principal secretary Fayyaz Jatoi, Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon and Additional IG (Special Branch) Javed Alam Odho were also present.
The city police chief briefed the CM about the overall law and order issues, particularly street crime.
He said that the street crime had been controlled to some extent, but it needed more steps to improve the law and order. All-out efforts were being made to control the street crime in the city, he said.
The meeting also deliberated on the menace of drugs in the city, especially in educational institution.
The CM directed the police to take effective steps to eradicate drugs from society.
Mr Shah was also informed about the occupation of state land by land grabbers in several parts of the city.
