Rescue 1122 hold mock exercise

TAXILA: The Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122 conducted Flood Preparedness Exercise at river Indus near Hazro town of Attock to check preparedness level, response strategy and to further enhance the operational compatibility of Rescue 1122 teams.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Waqar Ali Khan, assistant commissioner Hazro Zohaib Ahmed, officials of health, education, livestock department, rescue volunteers, police department and other related departments witnessed the mock exercise to avoid flood devastation.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Waqar Ali Khan while addressing as chief guest has said that Rescue 1122 service and the district administration are staying alert to cope with any possible flood and natural disasters.

District emergency officer, Ali Hussain, while briefing officials said strong coordination and timely response between the relevant agencies, the loss of precious lives in any flood situation can be prevented.

Mr Ali said that the purpose of the mock drills was to check the coordination and efficiency between the related agencies during any emergency

During the drill, Rescue 1122 personnel performed in an excellent manner in several practical exercises, including incident command post, sailing, drowning rescue exercises, first aid, swimming, and diving.

The rescue personnel demonstrated shifting of flood-affected people to safe places on an emergency basis, rescuing drowning people, how to provide first aid and shifting the injured to hospital in an ambulance on time.

Later, Mr Waqar also inspected the Rescue 1122 equipment used in the emergency operations.
