ISLAMABAD: Veteran Aqeel Khan partnering Mohammad Abid clinched the doubles title of the CAS Khyber Cup International Ranking Tennis tournament here at the PTF Complex on Wednesday.

The duo defeated the pair of Mohammad Shoaib and Barkatullah 6-3, 7-6(4) in the final.

Earlier in the semi-final, Aqeel and Abid overwhelmed Heera Ashiq and Yousuf Khalil 6-3, 6-3. The Shoaib-Barkatullah pair in their last-four match overcame brothers Muzammil Murtaza and Mudassir Murtaza 4-6, 6-3(10-7).

Meanwhile, youngster Mahatir Mohammad defeated Sami Zeb Khan 6-3, 6-3 in the U-18 boys singles decider.

In the boys and girls U-12 singles final, Hamza Ali Rizwan defeated Zohaib Afzal Malik 4-1, 4-2.

The men’s singles final between Aqeel and Mohammad Shoaib will be held on Thursday.
