LAHORE: In view of the ongoing heatwave across the country, the Pakistan Army on Monday established 37 heatstroke centres in different districts of Punjab.

The step was taken on the direction of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa on an emergency basis.

These centres will remain functional in different locations of urban and rural areas and cities of Punjab including Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Okara, Sahiwal, Pasrur, Shakargarh, Kasur, Sialkot, Zafarwal, Marala, Daska, Bahawalnagar, Mailsi, Bahawalpur, Dera Nawab Sahab and far-flung areas of Khairpur Tamewali and Cholistan desert.

In order to ensure effective healthcare at each heatstroke centre, all necessary facilities including patient beds, desert coolers, drinking water, ice blocks, first-aid kits and medicines have been provided, besides the availability of doctors, paramedics and other staff.

A large number of people including male, female, adolescents and kids will be provided with healthcare services.
