KARACHI: Fancied chestnut mare Golden Arrow seems to be the best bet for the Pleasant Cup being held during the Gymkhana race meeting here at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Golden Arrow, who obliged punters edging Princess of Hope by distance last week, is set to repeat her feat provided she is backed by connection and handled tactfully by the rider.
There are half-a-dozen acceptors in the cup race which is third in racing order and classified under combined scale order I, II and III to be run over four-and-a-half furlongs.
Bay horse Desco who seized second place behind Violent Romeo in the preceding week in the same scale order is the dark horse and may upset the applecart. Another bay horse Zaheer Choice has been doing well in the previous races but has to defy handicap in order to spring a surprise.
The fourth and supporting race under scale order V, VI and VII appears to be a two-horse affair between mare Sweet Golden and chestnut horse Golden Apple for second week running.
The former had coasted to a four lengths victory over the latter in her last run.
Six horses are in contention for the honours in the race that will take place over four-and-a-half furlongs.
Bay horse Non Stop looks poised to make amends by capturing the opening race under scale order VIII to be run over four furlongs. It contains a field of seven horses.
Non Stop is expected to be challenged by Stifee and Ayyan Prince.
Bay horse Daffodles Wave who made his debut last week, can create an upset.
Mare Janan is tipped to dominate the second race under scale order VII over four furlongs.
Mare Khairpur Star is expected to improve her performance and so does Denzo.
The first race starts at 4:00pm.
