SAHIWAL: Four robbers took away an oil tanker carrying 20,000 litres of petrol, Rs10,000 in cash and two mobile phones after holding its driver hostage near Adda Bahadur Shah on Sahiwal-Faisalabad Road on Tuesday night.

The market value of the snatched oil tanker petrol is around Rs5.63 million.

Reports said local transport owner Kuraam Shahzad’s driver Muhammad Naeem and helper Asad were taking petrol-filled oil tanker to Faisalabad. Near Bahadur Shah, the oil tanker was intercepted by a car. Two of the armed motorists held the driver and the helper hostage and as many others took away the tanker. The hostages were released after one-and-a-half hours.

Bahadur Shah police are investigating the matter.
