KARACHI: The Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) has joined hands with a non-governmental organisation to plant 40,000 trees at an urban forest in Clifton.

A statement issued on Tuesday said that this initiative was in line with the efforts to reduce carbon footprint and conservation of wildlife and biodiversity.

The Sindh Radiant Organisation (SRO), the NGO, has developed the Clifton Urban Forest in collaboration with the provincial government at the Marine Promenade area.

Speaking on the occasion, SCB chief executive officer Rehan Shaikh said: “Addressing climate change is essential for the future of our planet, for social development, and for long-term economic prosperity. It also gives me contentment to see Pakistan’s progress on climate action is being driven by the government and its ambitious plans to change practices and cut emissions.”
