THIS refers to the letter ‘Forgetting Iqbal’ (April 30). On behalf of Pakistanis, I accept the complaint lodged by the said letter and admit our mistake. I assure you as a Pakistani that I will always remember April 21 each year, the death anniversary of our great poet, Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Moreover, being an educationist since 1994, this is my good luck that I have a large number of students on my profile, so not only me but also faculty members from school to university levels will certainly motivate students to remember and observe the death anniversary of the man whose dream is one of the most important milestones behind the creation of Pakistan.

I do agree that our media, philanthropists, educational institutions, and, most importantly, the government must not allow the day to pass without remembering the great services rendered by Iqbal. He is the one who sparked a spirit among the Muslims of the subcontinent by giving them the concept of shaheen that is always ready to soar against injustice.

Our new generation is intelligent, brave and honest, and by guiding them towards the right path, we can make a big difference. They all love Iqbal’s poetry and they know that they can learn real life lessons by understanding its spirit.

Collectively and individually, we must follow in the footsteps of Iqbal and must prove ourselves his true shaheens.
