NAROWAL, Dec 7: Scores of people took out a protest procession on Wednesday in Abbasnagar against a DHQ hospital lady doctor in the rape case of a girl. Reports said ‘K’ (7) had gone for tuition at a nearby house the other day when a youth, Chand, took the girl to his house and allegedly raped her.

Later, parents of the girl reported the incident to the city police which got examined her from Dr Zahida Haq at DHQ hospital. The doctor in her report did not confirm the rape on which residents of the area chanted slogans against the lady doctor and demanded her removal from service.

When contacted, Narowal EDO (Health) Dr Shaukat Saleem said it was the first medical examination of this kind by the lady doctor. He said he would constitute a medical board for re-examination of the victim.

City police are investigating.
