LARKANA: Ali Hassan Dahani, a former senior vice president of Pakistan Peoples Party’s Larkana taluka chapter on Sunday announced joining the Larkana Awami Ittehad (LAI) along with his community members. He said he would contest election for the slot of Empire Town UC-I committee chairman in the local government election.

Mr Dahani made the announcement at a press conference at Kot Darrab in the presence of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) general secretary Dr Safdar Abbasi, MPA Moazzam Abbasi and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Larkana district emir Maulana Nasir Mehmood Soomro.

He said all Dahanis supporting him in Larkana and other parts of the province would also stop backing PPP in the LG election.

Welcoming Mr Dahani to LAI, Dr Abbasi said PPP would face defeat in Larkana where, according to him, results from Empire, Sachal and Haidri towns would be different this time.

MPA Moazzam Abbasi accused PPP of having caused great harm to Sindh during its 14 years of rule. “Presently, contractors are running PPP in Larkana district,” he remarked.

Maulana Nasir Soomro said: “We have firmly stood against PPP in Sindh for three generations and contested election against it in Larkana”.

Explaining his party’s support to PPP at national level, he said: “We are allowed to form alliance locally and, therefore, we have joined hands with our LAI friends to hand a defeat to PPP in the ensuing LG election”.
