LOWER DIR: A local jirga has demanded a police inquiry into the ‘honour killing’ of a couple and a minor girl in Sacha village of Khall tehsil here.

The jirga members led by Awami National Party district general secretary Malik Mohammad Zeb Khan made the demand during a meeting with district police officer Ikramullah Khan, SP (investigation) Mushtaq Khan and DSP Fakhri Alam Khan the Balambat police lines.

The visitors flayed the police for what they claimed not carrying out postmortem of the deceased.

They said besides ensuring the immediate exhumation of bodies for medico-legal examination, the police should also secure records of mobile phone numbers of all those concerned. The DPO said three separate police teams were investigating the matter and would make their findings public soon.

He said four suspects had been taken into custody and were being quizzed, while another, who was at large, would be held soon.

Mr Ikramullah also promised postmortem of bodies.
