DERA GHAZI KHAN, Jan 27: On the report of the PARCO security officer, Saddar police on Sunday registered a case against a sacked inspector on the charge of oil theft.

The PARCO administration was recording a low oil pressure in the main delivery pipeline from Karachi to Mehmood Kot. During the survey, the surveillance team found clip system on the main pipeline for the purpose of oil theft near DG Khan and its new bus stand. The team led by security officer Major Fahim reported the matter to the police.

SHO Saifullah Niazi told Dawn they had arrested Imam Bukhsh who was the custodian of an under-construction building used for filling oil in oil tankers. He said the main pipeline was passing in front of the building. “Through a clip, a pipe goes into the building where outlaws fill tankers”, he said.

The owner of the building is the district sports officer of Rajanpur and a relative of Imam Bukhsh.

Initial investigation gives out that a dismissed inspector, Mujahid Hussain alias Khudai, is also involved in the theft. He is also a relative of DSP Malik Murid Hussain.

It is pertinent to mention that the oil theft incidents are rampant in areas from Rujhan to Mehmood Kot. Several cases of oil thefts have already been taken place at Mana, Kot Chhuta and Shadan Lond. The PARCO has deputed a watchman at every 10 kilometres along the pipeline, but the crime is going on unchecked.

When contacted by phone, the PARCO security in charge was not available.
