QUETTA: Two tribal elders survived a roadside bomb blast triggered by a remote control on Sunday as they were passing through the Mangochar area of Kalat district in a convoy.

However, the blast left two people injured and damaged some vehicles in the convoy.

Officials of the Levies Force said Sardar Ahmed Khan Bangulzai and Sardar Allahyar Khan Bodozai were going to Johan area from Quetta along with other people to attend a meeting convened to discuss local bodies elections.

However, when the convoy reached Shekhari Cross in Uzbuki area of Mangochar, the bomb planted by the roadside exploded, hitting one of the vehicles in the convoy.

Members of security forces reached the spot after the incident and cordoned off the area.

“The target of the roadside bomb blast was the convoy of tribal leaders Sardar Ahmad Khan Bangulzai and Sardar Allah Yar Badozai,” Levies Force officials said, adding that both remained safe. The convoy was coming from Quetta.
