Rs920m for agriculture sector

GUJRANWALA, Dec 6: Punjab Food Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal has said that the government has allocated Rs920 million for agriculture sector in annual development programme (ADP). Speaking at a briefing here on Tuesday, he said 1,500 modern laser levelling units would be provided to farmers during three years at half price.

He expressed the hope that the construction of 28,000 water courses in the province would be helpful for cultivating more than 1.5 million acres. He directed the revenue officers to accelerate the recovery campaign.

SUSPENDED: DIG Zafar Abbas suspended from service an SHO and two other police officials on corruption charges and issued them show-cause notices here on Tuesday.

During an open court, ex-councillor Muhammad Aslam of Alipur Chattha lodged a complaint with the DIG against Alipur Chattha SHO Inspector Shahbaz Ahmad, SI Rana Sarwar and ASI Muhammad Aslam. The DIG suspended the officials from service and issued them show-cause notices.
