SUKKUR: A man was shot dead allegedly by thieves while he was chasing them in Waris Dino village within the limits of the Sultanpur police station in Pannu Aqil.

According to residents of the village, some armed men were taking away a goat from the house of Bhooral Malik late Thursday night. Malik woke up and he along with some other villagers chased them. But as soon as he approached the fleeing suspects, one of them shot and wounded him. He succumbed to his wounds minutes later.

The suspects then fled the village leaving behind the goat, the villagers said. Cattle theft within the jurisdiction of this police station had been a very common crime but the police appeared indifferent, they complained, adding that murder by suspects in such cases was, however, something rare.
