BAHAWALPUR: An infant died due to alleged negligence of the doctors at the DHQ Hospital of Lodhran on Thursday morning.

According to police and hospital sources, a man brought his daughter suffering from acute diarrhoea and vomiting three times at the emergency ward of Lodhran’s DHQ hospital but doctors declined to attend her and asked him to take her back.

The father alleged he implored the duty doctor to attend the patient but he instead continued to use his mobile phone and his daughter expired. The parents and other members of the infant’s family protested and damaged the hospital furniture which resulted in their clash with the security guards.

The family appealed to the Punjab chief minister to take action against the medical officer for his negligence.

Medical Superintendent Dr Qurban Hussain told Dawn over phone that an inquiry committee had been constituted to probe the complaint.

MATRICIDE: A youngster allegedly shot dead his mother over a petty matter on the second Eid day at Kot Dadu Ghalloo village about 30 kilometres away from here.

Police sources said Muhammad Muzammil would often misbehave with his mother Majida Bibi and he abused her over delay in serving meal on Wednesday. His brother Hashim who lives in an adjacent house heard outburst and came there but failed to cool Muzammil down.

Muzammil in a fit of rage opened fire on his mother who died on the spot. Police registered a case No 188/22 under section 302 of PPC on the complaint of Hashim.
