KARACHI: As many as 44 convicts confined in various prisons of the province were released on the eve of Eidul Fitr after getting special remission granted by the Sindh and federal governments on the occasion of the major Islamic festival.

The provincial government on Saturday granted special remission of 180 days, or six months, to convicted prisoners across the province, while 90-day remission to the sentences of the prisoners across the country was granted by the federal government under Article 45 of the presidential powers.
