SHANGLA: A number of hepatitis cases has been reported from Lilonai area of Shangla.
Dr Sulemani, the deputy medical superintendent at the District Headquarters Hospital, Alpuri, confirmed that hepatitis cases had emerged in Sheshan locality of Lilonai. He said every third person was diagnosed with hepatitis.
He said cases in the village surfaced due to use of contaminated water.
Dr Sulemani said the district health officer had formed teams, which visited the affected area and conducted awareness sessions, besides taking water samples.
Mian Mazhar Ali, a member of one of the teams, said almost 60 per cent of the people in Sheshan area were affected by hepatitis. He said the teams had visited schools, seminaries and public places, asking the people to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the disease.
TOURISTS: The Shangla administration has finalised preparations to welcome tourists from different parts of the country on Eidul Fitr.
Deputy commissioner Ziaur Rehman said the tourists were likely to visit Yakhtangay, Ajmeer, Bruj Banda, Machar Abshar, Shangla Top, Acharo Sar and other points in large numbers on Eid days.
He said preparations had been finalised to welcome the visitors. He said leaves of Rescue 1122 staff had been cancelled to deal with any emergency during Eid days.
