LAHORE: A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Government College University (GCU) and an electric motorbike company for the provision of electric motorcycles to students and staff members of the university at a discounted price.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi Usman Sheikh, the chief executive officer of Jolta Electric, signed the accord. US Consul General Lahore Kathleen Gibilisco was also present.

Prof Zaidi said the GCU would provide facilities to its students, including free parking and chargers, to promote electric bikes.

The US consul general said climate change was a challenge that required cooperation and commitment. Usman Sheikh and Global Business Director of Jolta Electric Iftikhar Hussain also spoke.
