Indian SAFF squad due today

LAHORE, Dec 5: Led by Baichung Bhutia, a 20-member Indian football team is scheduled to reach Karachi on Tuesday to take part in the SAFF Championship to be held at Peoples Stadium Karachi from Dec 7-17. India are bracketed with Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh in Group-B.

Squad:

Goalkeepers (3): Sandip Nandy (Mahindra United), Kalyan Chaubey (JCT Mills), Alex DSouza.

Defenders (6): Irungbam Surkumar Singh, Mahesh Gawli, Manju Nanjangud Shivananju (all Mahindra United), Muttath Suresh (East Bengal), Rajib Ahmed (Mohun Bagan AC), Naduparambil Pappachan Pradeep (State Bank of Travancore).

Midfielders (8): Shanmugam Venkatesh (vice-captain), Steven Dias, James Lukram Singh, Krishnan Nair Ajayan (all Mahindra United), Alvito D Cunha (East Bengal), Mehtab Hussain, Mehraj Din Wadoo (both Mohun Bagan AC), Climax Lawrence (Dempo SC).

Strikers: (3) : Baichung Bhutia (captain), Syed Rahim Nabi (both East Bengal), M. A. Abdul Hakkim (State Bank of Travancore).
