Traders reject strike call

FAISALABAD, Dec 5: Shopkeepers and vendors rejected the strike call given by the Traders Alliance Faisalabad and continued their business in Eight Bazaars here on Monday. While commercial centres on Circular Road, Kotwali Road, Anarkali Bazaar, Yarn Market, Grocery Market, Arshad Market, Narwala Road, Satiana Road, and other shopping centres also remained open throughout the day.

Some of the shops in Gole Bazaar, closed in the morning, started their business from afternoon as usual.

The trade body had given the strike call against the anti-encroachment drive launched by the Lyallpur Town Administration. However, it failed to get the response from the business community.

To avoid any untoward incident, the police and administrative officials had made tight security arrangements.

City District Nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef also paid a visit to the local bazaar and held a meeting with shopkeepers and trade leaders.

He assured that demands raised by them would be discussed with Town Nazim Rana Zahid Mehmood.

He also promised to constitute a committee comprising Lyallpur Town officials and trade leaders so that the anti-encroachment drive could be made successful.
