SAHIWAL: The district administration has renamed six public sector facilities in the city.

The process has been completed after the renovation of the facilities under the Asian Development Bank programme called the Punjab Intermediate Cities Investment Improvement Program (PICIIP).

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Awais Malik told Dawn that he had issued a public notification in pursuance of Rule 9 (3) & 4 of The Punjab Local Council (Roads and Street) Rules 1981.

He said the names had been changed in the honour of the personalities who belonged to or remained associated with Sahiwal and rendered distinguished services in the fields of literature, art, public service, public administration and sports.

These places have been named Munir Niazi Park, Tariq Aziz Park, Khursheed Rizvi e-library, Qamar Zaman Hockey Ground, Muzaffar Qadir Badminton Hall and Barrister Syed Aziz Qutab Chowk.
