CHINIOT: A youth killed his mother and sister for refusing him his share of the inherited property.

Gul Faraz, 25, of Chak 223-JB, asked his mother and sister to provide him with the property share, but they asked him to have a joint property in a joint family setting. Being enraged, he went to his married sister’s house in the morning where his sister Mumtaz Bibi, her husband Ikramullah and mother Shahnaz Bibi were present. Gul shot at and killed his mother and when his sister came to rescue her, he also killed her and fled.

On the application of Ikram, the Langrana police registered a case and started a search for the suspect.

REVIVAL OF BUSINESSES: Businessmen have pinned hopes on the new coalition government for the revival of business and small industries.

Danish Fakhari, president of the Chiniot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, addressing a press conference here, congratulated the new government and said there have been recessions and restrictions on businesses in Pakistan, in general, and the furniture industry of Chiniot, in particular.

Despite the fact the local craft of furniture is famous all over the world and has great export potential, unfortunately, it is being suppressed through the FBR’s unjust taxes and installed POS machines even in the shops of small retailers.

He said these measures led to the unemployment of hundreds of furniture workers due to the closure of businesses of some furniture sellers and increased the cost of production as well as the sales price.

He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is very well aware of the economic challenges, particularly on the export fronts, foreign investment, continuous devaluation of the rupees, gas shortage problem, exorbitant electricity bills, poor infrastructure and management of industrial estates.
