ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have decided to take stern action against owners of public service vehicles who are involved in misbehaving with passengers, overloading and so on.

“Strict action will be taken against transporters who do not complete traffic routes. The purpose is to provide better traffic facilities to citizens,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Rai Mazhar Iqbal while reviewing a report submitted by special squads constituted to monitor route completion on Sunday.

According to a statement, Islamabad Traffic Police are utilising all resources to facilitate the public and are not only issuing traffic violation tickets to public service vehicles (PSVs) for overcharging, misbehaviour of drivers or conductors with people and non-completion of routes but also cancelling driving licences of those found repeatedly involved in rule violation.

Following directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Ahsan Younis, the SSP (Traffic) said special squads had already been constituted to check route violation.

He directed all zonal DSPs to accelerate action in this regard.
