LAHORE: A man died while four others injured after a bus and a truck plunged into the canal in Raiwind area here on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 and the police rushed to the spot on the emergency call when a truck reportedly ran over and killed a man.

There were reports that as the truck hit the man, a bus coming from behind lost its balance and both vehicles plunged into the canal. Resultantly, drivers of the truck and bus and two others got injured in the incident, a police official said.

He said the man, who died in the incident, was yet to be identified while the injured were shifted to a local hospital where one of them was said to be critical.

The official said the accident threw traffic out of gear for an hour or so. The traffic police brought a crane to lift the bus and the truck from the canal, he said.

Police have started an inquiry into the incident.
