KARACHI: The city administration on Friday continued the crackdown on profiteers and arrested 16 shopkeepers and vendors for violating the prices fixed by the city administration.

Official sources said that the held profiteers were selling fruits and poultry meat in different parts of district East on an exorbitant price.

They said 10 profiteers were arrested in Ferozabad and six in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

Besides, they said, as many as 163 profiteers were fined Rs668,000 across the city.

A press release issued by the commissioner office said that as many as 13 profiteers were fined Rs20,000 in district Malir and 26 were fined Rs194,000 in district Central.

It said that 53 profiteers were fined Rs64,000 in East, 12 in West (Rs12,000), 10 in Keamari (Rs10,000), 43 in South (Rs328,000) and six profiteers were fined Rs40,000 in district Korangi.
