GUJRANWALA, Dec 3: Two brothers were awarded life imprisonment and fine in a murder case here on Saturday. Reports said Muhammad Khalid and M Abid had killed Muhammad Azim at Sadhobi over an old enmity in June 2004. The court awarded them life term and ordered them to pay Rs100,000 fine collectively. In case of default, they will have to undergo six-month additional imprisonment.
Meanwhile, in a murder case of Anjuman Tajran former chief Sheikh Zulfiqar Chinwala, the court acquitted three accused — M Aslam, Shams and Akram — by giving them the benefit of the doubt.
However the court declared two accused — Raheel Ahmad and Muhammad Asif — as proclaimed offenders and directed the Model Town police to arrest them.
MEDICAL TEST: The anti-terrorism court No. 1 on Saturday ordered medical test of former MPA Mian Mazher Javid and Ladhaywala union council ex-chairman Rana Khalid Mehmood and directed the civil hospital medical superintendent to submit a report on Dec 5 (tomorrow) to this effect.
Reports said advocate Shahid Muzaffar Khan filed an application with the court alleging that the police had badly tortured them. The court accepted his request for medical test.
On the recommendation of the medical board, they were shifted to DHQ hospital from the police station and admitted to cardiology ward.
The ex-MPA along with his 30 supporters was arrested by Ladhaywala police on Nov 21 on charges of injuring an SHO and disturbing polling in PP-97.
