QUETTA, Dec 3: The provincial directorate of health has imposed ban on the visits of representatives of pharmaceutical companies to doctors in government hospital during working hours. Medical superintendents of the hospitals have been directed to strictly implement the ban and not allow representatives of pharmaceutical companies and other people to visit doctors during working hours.

According to sources, the directorate has imposed the ban after receiving reports that representatives of pharmaceutical companies frequently visit doctors at government hospitals due to which patients suffer.

They also lure doctors into prescribing expensive drugs by offering them ‘paid foreign tours, cars and refrigerators’ in the name of promotion of the products.

GAS SUPPLY: Sui Southern Gas Company has taken steps to continue smooth supply of natural gas in Quetta and adjacent areas and reinforcement lines have been laid in different areas to overcome the problem of low gas pressure.

In a statement issued here on Saturday the assistant general manager of the SSGC claimed that the reinforcement pipes at Brewery road, Quarry road, Qambarani road and eastern bypass would be completed soon.

The statement said that speedy work was under way and the problem would be resolved following completion of the work.

The SSGC urged public, elected representatives of people and provincial authorities to cooperate with company in order to tackle the problem of theft, tampering of meters/regulators and unauthorized extensions.
