LAKKI MARWAT: Two persons were killed as many injured in a clash between rival groups over a dispute on a thoroughfare in Asgharkhel village here on Monday, the police said.

They identified the victims as Kamran, 32, and Daud.

Pasham Jana, 62, told the police that her son, Kamran, was threshing the harvested gram crop when suspects, Daud and his son, Saeed came there. “Saeed opened fire on her son, killing him on the spot,” she said, adding Daud attacked her with an axe when she tried to protect her son, injuring her.

However, Sania Bibi, 15, from the other side, told the police that Moeenuddin, Kamran and Farman, shot dead her father, Daud, and wounded her mother outside their house.

The police shifted the bodies and the injured to a hospital in Titterkhel. They also registered separate cases against the rival parties.

Meanwhile, around 1,000 policemen will perform security duty in Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts during Ramazan, an official said on Monday.

He said Bannu district police officer Imran Shahid, while speaking at a meeting, directed implementation of the Ramazan security plan in letter and spirit. “SHOs were ordered to provide foolproof security to Taraweeh congregations, besides increasing e patrolling in their respective areas,” the official said, adding the DPO also ordered crackdown on those involved in one-wheeling, over-speeding and firing in the air.

In Lakki Marwat, an official said, district police officer Shahzada Umar Abbas Babar formed special patrolling squads for the Indus Highway, Bannu-Mianwali Road and other arteries.

He said checking points had been established on the exit and entry points of Lakki city, and a special traffic management plan devised to avoid traffic mess in congested areas.
