Mild steel import from India allowed

ISLAMABAD, Dec 3: The government has allowed import of mild steel structure from India. The decision was notified by the commerce ministry here on Saturday by amending the Import Policy Order 2005.

The item was added in the Pakistan-India positive list of trading.

The mild steel would be used in steel structure houses in earthquake-affected areas of NWFP and Azad Kashmir.

The notification reads: “In the aforesaid Order, in Appendix G, after serial number 772 in column (1) and the entries relating thereto in columns (2) and (3), the following new serial number and the entries relating thereto shall be added, namely: 773. Respective headings: mild steel for structures.”
