KARACHI, Dec 3: Berthing activity at the Karachi Port on Saturday was brisk as nine ships were berthed to unload and load various commodities, including cars and general cargo, according to KPT sources.

Meanwhile, six ships were due to load naphtha and unload and load containers after the departure of as many.

The vessels, which got berths included Sagamore, Wan Hai-266 and Kota Tampan, to unload and load containers, Izola Borzna, to offload steel and steel coils, Weng, to offload and load general cargo, Ducky Sovereign, to offload cars, W. Von Hamburg, to offload chemicals, and Chem Bothnia, to load naphtha.

The departing ships were led by Eagle Express, Eax Sanctity, Shalamar, Chem Bothnia and Al-Marwah, while Wan Hai-266, Fu Niu Shan, Kota Tampan, Izola, Wappen Von Hamburg, Le He and Eastern Sea are due to sail out on Sunday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was slow where a total tonnage of 86,873 tons comprising 12,745 tons of export cargo and 74,128 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following vessels are due on Sunday: New Champio, to load 25,000 tons of naphtha, Bunga Kenari, Ever Gather, Iran Baabab, Mairne Rickmers, and Jade Trader, with containers.

The following are due on Monday: Slam Pavinee, with 3,500 tons of palm oil, Yang Jiang He, with containers and Federal Kushiro, with 28,000 tons of iron scrap.
