GUJRANWALA, Dec 2: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 2 awarded contempt of court sentence to three policemen, including an SHO, here on Friday. Reports said that Tetley SHO Malik Fiaz, SI M. Arif and ASI Muhammad Ishaq got physical remand of some accused involved in criminal cases. Later, the policemen produced the accused before civil judges for trial.
Judge Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad informed the district & sessions judge about the matter and requested action against the civil judges concerned. He also asked DPO Dr Arif Mushtaq to take punitive action against the accused policemen for cheating the court.
TWO COMMIT SUICIDE: Two women committed suicide by taking poisonous pills over some domestic disputes in Sodara and Wazirabad on Friday.
Razia Bibi of Sodra, the mother of half-a-dozen children, and elderly woman Naziran Bibi of Wazirabad quarrelled with their husbands. In dejection, they swallowed pills. They were rushed to Wazirabad THQ Hospital where they died. Bodies were handed over to their respective heirs after autopsy.
BAIL ACCEPTED: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 accepted the bail application of an accused involved in kidnap-cum-murder case of a minor boy here on Friday.
Reports said that the accused had kidnapped Hamza of Naushera Road for ransom and later killed him and threw his body in a plot some two weeks ago. But the police took public call office owner Maqsood Ahmed into custody and registered a case against him. However, police failed to arrest the real culprits despite a court directive.
Judge Mujahid Mustaqim directed the accused to furnish surety bonds of Rs100,000.
RESENTMENT: The Wasa Ittehad Union has expressed its resentment against the administration for not accepting its charter of demands.
Speaking at a meeting held here on Friday, CBA president Naseeruddin Humayun Malik and other leaders said the bureaucracy and corrupt mafia were creating hurdles in the acceptance of their demands.
They warned that the sewerage system and water supply in the entire city would be shut if their demands were not met immediately.
