Sharaqpur uplift plan

SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 1: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has sanctioned a dual carriageway from Lahore to Mandi Faizabad besides announcing the carpeting of a 32-kilometre stretch of road between Sharaqpur and Sheikhupura. The chief minister made these announcements while addressing a public meeting in Sharaqpur on Thursday.

He said that the Lahore-Jaranwala Road would also be dualized shortly to ease the traffic on the busy highway.

On the demand of the two nazims representing the farmers community, the chief minister announced the restoration of canal water in Rajbah Sharaqpur for the whole year instead of six months.

He said that the Higher Secondary School for Boys and Girls in Sharaqpur would soon be upgraded to degree college.

The chief minister said the THQ Hospital comprising 100 beds would soon be constructed in Sharaqpur.

MNAs Saeed Ahmad Virk, Rai Mansab, Zulfiqar Dhillon and MPAs Rai Ijaz, Ijaz Sehol, Zulqarnain Dogar, Abid Husain Chattha, Mian Khalid, Nankana District Nazim Syed Mumtaz Shah and Sheikhupura District Nazim Mian Jalil were also among the participants. — Correspondent
