PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the relevant authorities to complete the process of land acquisition for cadet college in Upper Dir so that work on the project could be started as early as possible.

He also ordered the high-ups of the communication and works department to take concrete steps for completing the construction of Chakdara Bypass Road by June this year, according to a statement issued here on Saturday.

He said that the provincial government would provide all required funds for this purpose on priority basis.

Meeting reviews progress on uplift projects

The chief minister issued these directives while chairing a meeting to review progress on development schemes of Upper Dir. Administrative secretaries of the relevant departments and senior officials of Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority attended the meeting.

During briefing about the progress on development projects, it was stated that PC-I costing Rs6.9 billion had been prepared for the construction of 44-kilometre road from Patrak to Thal Kumrat in Upper Dir, while land acquisition for construction of Talash-Kalpanai Bypass Road in Lower Dir had been completed.

Moreover, bids have been received for the construction of 30-kilometre km Dir motorway and the agreement for the project would be signed by mid-August.

The meeting was told that hiring of faculty and other staff for the recently-inaugurated Timargara Medical College was under way.Besides the appointment of project director for the establishment of University of Dir, relevant committees have also been formed.

About the projects in sports and tourism sector, it was stated that a site for the establishment of Dir Sports Complex had been identified and PC-I of the project would be ready by end of this month.

The chief minister on this occasion directed the concerned authorities to complete all the projects as per given timelines and said that no delay would be tolerated in completion of these public welfare projects.
