Degrees conferred on 760 students at ZU convocation

KARACHI: Ziauddin University (ZU) on Tuesday awarded degrees to 760 graduating students in various disciplines at its convocation 2022.

Degrees were conferred in disciplines of MBBS, BDS, Pharm D, physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical technology, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, software engineering, communications & media studies, BEd, audiology & speech language therapy, science in nursing, MS, MD, MPhil and PhD.

ZU Pro-Chancellor Dr Nida Hussain awarded Sir Ziauddin Gold Medals to top 13 position holders; Gulrukh Shakil (MBBS), Sunita (software engineering), Ali Mustafa (BDS), Aliza (Pharm D), Urvah Hadia Dilshad (physical therapy), Ameerah Ganny (speech language therapy), Anita Salim Makhani (nursing), Rabia Hussain (media sciences), Areej Ahmed (biomedical engineering), Arbab Ahmed (electrical engineering), Ovais Shafi (civil engineering), Salman Humayun (electrical engineering technology) and Ummeha Wasi (medical technology).

Congratulating the graduating students, ZU Chancellor Dr Asim Hussain acknowledged their success and stated: “Today is a beautiful day for all of the students who are graduating; it is a day when they enter the practical world; it is a day when their aspirations come true.”

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah said: “There is no doubt that the talented young people who have graduated from our country have not only made Pakistan proud all over the world because of their intelligence, but they are also providing services in accordance with modern requirements in various fields.”

“Higher education is the solution to all our problems because without it no society can develop, and that is why the promotion of higher education is the top priority of the government. To be successful and professional, and to move forward in life, it is important that students continue to learn and never give up,” he added.

Former Senator Javed Jabbar said: “Providing higher education to youngsters is a solemn public responsibility and a big commitment in a country where 20 million children are out of school. As a result of your higher education, ensure that the advantages are shared with as many people as possible.”

Earlier, ZU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Syed Irfan Hyder congratulated the young graduates in his welcome speech.
