Commissioner lauds Anjuman’s role for Urdu

KARACHI: Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon on Tuesday said that Anjuman Taraqqi-i-Urdu Pakistan was rendering excellent services for the development and promotion of the national language and its efforts were commendable.

While visiting Bagh-i-Urdu, the office of Anjuman Taraqqi-i-Urdu Pakistan, the commissioner held out assurance to management for transferring of additional 2,500 square yards, lying in front of the Anjuman’s office, for construction of an auditorium of international standards and extension of allied facilities in the institution.

He also inspected the illegal encroachments and hundreds of huts established around the main road leading to the office and its surroundings.

The commissioner said that strict legal action would be taken against the occupants to vacate these encroachments.

He directed the area assistant commissioner to coordinate with police for patrolling the area up to the Bagh-i-Urdu, particularly in the evening, so that students and researchers could visit library without any fear.

He also inspected the various sections of the institution and took keen interest in old scripts and digital studio set up to preserve these scripts.

Anjuman president Wajid Jawad while briefing the commissioner told that their institute had collection of even 900-year-old script.
