SUKKUR: A youth and a seven-year-old boy sitting with him on his motorcycle were gunned down by unknown assailants in the Tamachani area on the outskirts of the city on Sunday.

The area police said that Dadan Shar along with the child, Nisar, was going somewhere on his motorcycle when the suspects, also riding a motorcycle, opened fire killing both of them. The relation between the victims could not be ascertained immediately. The assailants drove away after committing the crime, they added.

The police attributed the attack to a matrimonial dispute between some families belonging to the Shar community.

The bodies were shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities. The police said that teams of personnel had been sent to the area to arrest the killers and prevent further bloodshed.
