LAKKI MARWAT: The provincial government had approved establishing a new city in Ghoriwala area between Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts, Bannu deputy commissioner Mohammad Zubair Niazi claimed on Friday.

Talking to reporters, he said the new city would be named as Banni Gul City, and work on the project would start soon.

He said over 1.6 million residents of Bannu were confronted with residential and other problems.

“To cope with such issues the government has prepared a feasibility report for establishing the new Banni Gul City over 10,000 kanals of land in Ghoriwala near the CPEC route and motorway,” he claimed.

The deputy commissioner said the new city would be located at a distance of 12 kilometres from Bannu city and 1.5km from Bannu-Lakki Road.

He said the government would provide housing and other facilities, including health, education, sports and recreation, uninterrupted power and gas supply to the residents of the new city. Mr Zubair said the government had tasked the Urban Areas Development Authority to execute the project.
