Robbers loot wagon passengers

GUJRANWALA, Jan 26: Dacoits looted a commuter wagon, a house, took away a motorcycle-rickshaw and shot at a passenger in three strikes here on Saturday.

Two men who boarded a Gujranwala-bound wagon from Qila Dedar Singh whipped out their pistols and snatched cash, gold jewellery and wrist watches from passengers. They opened fire on Basharat Ali when he put up resistance. He was rushed to local civil hospital in critical condition.

Three bandits sneaked into the house of businessman Khalil Ahmad at Sultanpura locality. They locked the inmates in a room and took away Rs 100,000 in cash, 77-tola gold and a licensed revolver.

Five people, including two girls, drove away a motorcycle-rickshaw (RIW-9462). They also snatched cash from Muhammad Nadim, the owner.

SUSPENDED: The Gujranwala Range DIG on Saturday suspended Sukheki SHO Jehangir Bajwa for implicating a man in a murder case.

The DIG also issued show cause notice to the Pindi Bhattian DSP on the report of the range crime.
