KHAIRPUR, Nov 29: Two teams on Tuesday started investigations into alleged baton-charging of nurses and use of teargas against them. One team, comprises the DDO, revenue, DSP, city, and Dr Mohammad Bachal, has been constituted by the district administration and the other the EDO, Sukkur, Hafeezur Rehman Shaikh, civil surgeon Dr Imtiaz Mughal and Gambat taluka medical officer Dr Rahim Bux Bhatti. The inquiry has been ordered by the secretary for health.

The teams recorded statements of former B-section police station SHO Abdul Samad Bullo and other police officials.

They will also record statements of the civil surgeon and the EDO, health, Khairpur, and other related officers concerned.

The teams also visited the place where the nurses had staged a protest.

The nurses and other paramedical staff attended their duties on Tuesday in all four hospitals of the city but they wore black armband as a mark of protest.

It was learnt that nurses and paramedical staff had decided not to attend any police official if admitted to hospitals till legal action was taken against those officials who had tortured them.
