MIRPURKHAS, Nov 29: The Sindh Sugarcane Growers Association has called upon the government to fix price of sugarcane at Rs60 per maund. A meeting of the association was held at the Tharparkar gymkhana here on Tuesday.

SSGA president MNA Qurban Ali Shah presided over the meeting.

Sugarcane growers from Sindhri taluka Sarfaraz Junejo, Javed Junejo, Raees Ahmed Khan, Sher Mohammad Wassan, Abdul Ghafoor Mahar and Mustafa Kachhelo attended the meeting.

The meeting dismissed setting up of illegal zoning system of sugar mills and expressed resentment over delay in the start of crushing.

The meeting observed that sugarcane crop was losing weight for which mills would be responsible for damages to their matured crops.

The meeting decided to hold the next meeting on December 4 to chalk out a strategy against sugar mills management.
