RAWALPINDI: A 500-bed District Headquarters Hospital would be established in Chakwal, said Punjab Minister of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Dr Yasmeen Rashid on Saturday.

She said this during her surprise visit to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Kallar Kahar.

The minister said the facility of dialysis centre had been provided to the THQ Hospital Kallar Kahar and it would be expanded to facilitate patients who had to get dialysis from Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.

She also visited various departments in the hospital and interacted with patients.

Ms Rashid also took a round of the new emergency department set up in the hospital and lauded the role of philanthropists who provided funds for it.

The hospital’s medical superintendent briefed the minister about the details of the medical facilities provided to the patients in the hospital.

The provincial minister expressed her satisfaction over the sanitation arrangements and said the facility of CT scans and MRI would soon be provided to the THQ hospital.

The state-of-the-art trauma centres would also be established at two more locations in the area, including Dullah, she added.

The minister said the best kind of healthcare facilities would be available to the people after the affiliation of different hospitals with Rawalpindi Medical University.
