LAHORE, Feb 21: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar says language is not only a means of expression of human emotions but also an identity of nations.

In his message issued here on the mother language day, the chief minister said promotion of the mother tongue was an important need and added importance of the mother tongue could not be denied even in this ever-changing digital world.

He said language gives a strong identity to the nations and protection of the mother tongue is a social responsibility of all of us. The education of the children in their mother tongue yields a positive effect on their mental development. The status of mother tongues as a national identity and a valuable cultural heritage is undeniable, he added.

He said every word and phrase in the mother tongue contained national traditions, culture, mental and spiritual experiences. He said the language was a social gift that was passed to the next generation over time. He said the mother tongue was considered an effective means of preserving and promoting cultural heritage. He said mother tongues raise better awareness of cultural, historical and social traditions around the world.
