Pakistan reports less than 3,000 cases for fourth day, 40 more deaths

Pakistan has reported 2,870 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, marking the fourth straight day that infections have remained under 3,000.

In the last 24 hours, 40 more people succumbed to the virus compared to 49 yesterday. The national positivity rate stands at 5.6 per cent.

The total caseload is now 1,494,293 while the death toll is 29,917.

The nationwide breakdown is as follows:

  • Sindh: 1,013 cases, 9 deaths
  • Punjab: 583 cases, 13 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 943 cases, 14 deaths
  • Balochistan: 30 cases
  • Islamabad: 141 cases, 1 death
  • Gilgit Baltistan: 24 cases
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 136 cases, 3 deaths
