LARKANA: A man surrendered himself before the Keti Mumtaz police on Tuesday after killing his wife and niece in Izzat Ji Wandh village, located on the outskirts of Naudero town.

Gada Hussain Sheikh told the police that his wife, Rasheeda, 26, and niece, Shabana, 17, had been abducted by three suspects five days ago. He said he shot dead both of them “for honour” upon finding them in Izzat Ji Wandh village. After registering a case against him, the police detained Shabana’s father, Deedar Sheikh (who was accompanying the victims when the women were shot dead) on suspicion of his involvement in the murder plan.

Earlier, Gada Hussain had lodged a report at the Keti Mumtaz police station stating that his wife Rasheeda and niece Shabana had been abducted by three suspects. After the women’s return home, Deedar made them believe that they would be killed in the name of honour. He persuaded them to accompany him to Bhanbhro Sheikh village to escape death. While the three persons were on their way to the village, Gada Sheikh waylaid he women in Izzat Ji Wandh village and shot them dead. Suspecting Deedar’s complicity in the double murder plan, police took him into custody.

Meanwhile, police took the bodies to the Naudero Hospital for a post-mortem examination before handing them over to the heirs.
