ABBOTTABAD: A woman axed her minor daughter to death and critically injured two other children before attempting to end her life in a remote village of Havelian tehsil here, the police said on Tuesday.

They quoted Khan Mohammad, a resident of Miyani Satora village, as saying that his daughter-in-law along with her three children was sleeping in a separate room.

He said during early hours of Tuesday, his grandchildren started crying, and when he and other family members went to inquire, they found the room locked from inside.

However, he said they broke open the door and found that his daughter-in-law was trying to kill herself with an axe while her three children were lying in a pool of blood.

The complainant said the injured were shifted to Havelian Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced, Ishaal Adnan, 3, dead, while Zehra Adnan, 8, and nine-month-old Hussain Adnan and their mother were referred to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad. Condition of the two children was stated to be critical, police and doctors said.

According to doctors, the injured woman suffered cuts in the neck indicating she attempted to commit suicide.

The reason behind the incident was not known, the complainant told the police. He said his son, Adnan Khan, was abroad for employment. The police registered a case against the woman under sections 302, 324 and 325 of PPC.
