RAWALPINDI: An 11-year-old student of grade seven was murdered allegedly by her tutor in her neighbour’s house in Ratta Amral on Monday.

City Police Officer Omer Saeed Malik told Dawn that the suspect had been arrested and a murder case registered against him.

Mr Malik said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was a teacher of Barera Zaid, daughter of Zaid Naseer, a resident of Chak Madad near Al-Noor Masjid.

He said the girl’s parents suspected Adil Chan, a resident of Abbottabad, of harbouring bad intentions for her.

According to initial police report, a few days ago the girl’s parents informed Adil that they no longer wanted him to teach their daughter which angered him.

On Monday, Adil came to the neighbourhood to teach another student and called Barera there. He scolded her for complaining about him with her parents and in a fit of rage, stabbed and killed the girl, the police said, adding that the suspect was arrested and the murder weapon recovered from him.

Soon after the incident came to light at about 4pm, the SP Rawal, SDPO and SHO visited the crime scene and recorded the statements of the victim’s family.

The girl’s body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem and legal proceedings had been initiated by the police.

According to the report, “the girl had multiple knife wounds on her body”.

Meanwhile, police found a mutilated body stuffed in a bag lying on a bridge in Pirwadhai area on Monday.

Sub-Inspector Tariq Mehmood recorded in the FIR that he and his subordinates were on patrol duty when they found a bag lying on the bridge over Leh Nullah.

He said on searching the bag, they found a headless body wrapped in a woolen sheet. The person’s right arm, which had been chopped off by the killers, was also found in the bag.

In another incident, a girl was stabbed to death allegedly by her father in Chauntra area on Sunday.

Sajjad Ali told police that he and his younger sister had gone to their uncle’s house on Saturday night. When they returned home on Sunday morning, they saw their father stabbing his other sister. He said his younger sister tried to intervene but their father threatened her of dire consequences.

The complainant said his father was enraged on finding his daughter having developed friendship with a boy named Firdaus and had been asking both not to contact each other but they did not listen.
